Rual Baez was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, New York. He got a B.A. in Art History and Visual Art at Duke University. In his artist statement he says he is interested in representing unrepresented communities.He says he got his interest from his appreciation of the medium capability. His studies are wanting to understand and portray individuals whose stories are ignored.
